Tragedy Strikes as Tempo Traveller Plunges Into Gorge in Uttarakhand: 12 Dead, Several Injured

A devastating incident unfolded on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand, claiming the lives of at least 12 individuals and leaving several others injured. The calamity occurred when a tempo traveller, carrying 23 passengers, veered off the road near Raitoli in the Rudraprayag district and plummeted into a gorge.

The minibus tragically landed in the Alaknanda River, prompting swift responses from the State Disaster Response Force and local law enforcement agencies. Rescue operations are currently underway to retrieve survivors and provide medical assistance to the injured.

Reports indicate that bystanders near the accident site also sustained injuries due to the impact of the incident. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy and promptly instructed the district magistrate to launch a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Chief Minister Dhami extended prayers for the souls of the deceased and urged strength for the grieving families. He also sought divine intervention for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.

The injured victims are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for urgent medical attention, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the coordinated efforts to provide necessary care amidst the tragedy.
