“Nitish Kumar Backs PM Modi for Third Term Amidst Political Shifts”

Nitish Kumar Takes Aim at INDIA Bloc, Pledges Support for PM Modi

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made headlines by openly endorsing Narendra Modi for a third term as Prime Minister during a meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s newly-elected MPs. Kumar, who recently switched allegiance from the Congress-led INDIA opposition bloc to the BJP’s side, took a dig at his former allies while reaffirming his support for PM Modi.

Kumar’s move to back Modi marks a significant shift in his political stance, especially after his role in forming the INDIA opposition bloc just months before the election. His endorsement of Modi comes amidst speculation and rumors of a potential reunion with the INDIA bloc, which defied exit polls by winning 232 seats in the Lok Sabha election.

The Bihar Chief Minister’s declaration of support for Modi also addresses speculations about his political alignment, with critics anticipating another change in allegiance. Kumar’s stance is crucial as his party’s 12 MPs, along with 16 from Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP, hold a pivotal position in the formation of the government due to BJP’s shortfall in reaching the majority mark.

While there were talks of a potential reunion with the INDIA bloc, sources close to Kumar ruled out such possibilities, emphasizing his commitment to the NDA. The JDU leader’s demands, including ministerial berths and a common minimum program, indicate a strategic approach in negotiating his party’s role within the alliance.

In response to Kumar’s endorsement, PM Modi took swipes at the opposition, particularly the Congress, highlighting their electoral performance in recent polls. Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister for his third term on Sunday, further solidifying the NDA’s leadership under his tenure.
