Kangana Ranaut Reportedly Slapped by Security Staff at Chandigarh Airport

In a shocking incident, Bollywood actor and newly elected Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport. The altercation reportedly stemmed from the constable’s dissatisfaction with Ranaut’s views on farmers’ protests.

The incident occurred as Ranaut, who won the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, was preparing to board a flight to Delhi. The CISF constable involved in the incident, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, reportedly accused Ranaut of disrespecting farmers, referencing her past statements regarding the farmers’ protests and issues related to minimum support price guarantees.

Mobile footage from the airport shows Ranaut being escorted by security officers towards the security check-in area, where she is seen engaging with CISF officers. The CISF Commandant has initiated an investigation into the incident and is questioning the constable involved. Ranaut’s team has also informed local police authorities about the incident.

After landing in Delhi, Ranaut did not speak to reporters. However, in a video statement later in the evening, she confirmed the incident and expressed concern about rising terrorism in Punjab. Ranaut described the incident as the constable hitting her and hurling expletives, allegedly citing support for farmers as the reason for her actions.

The constable, in a statement, mentioned being upset with Ranaut’s remarks during the farmers’ protest, particularly referring to her comment about farmers protesting for Rs 100. This incident comes in the backdrop of Ranaut’s past controversies regarding her views on the farmers’ protests, including a social media exchange with international pop star Rihanna in February 2021.

The farmers’ protests, which lasted nearly 15 months, centered on concerns about the impact of new farm laws on minimum support prices and the corporatization of agriculture. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of the contentious farm laws in November 2021, addressing some of the key issues raised by the protesting farmers.
