Viral 'IITian Baba' Expelled from Akhara at Maha Kumbh; Responds to Allegations

Abhey Singh, the former aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay who has garnered significant attention at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, has been expelled from his akhara. Known by his followers as the ‘IITian Baba’, Singh has become a prominent figure at the religious event due to his unconventional transition from engineering to spirituality.

Expulsion from Juna Akhara

Reports suggest that Singh, who gained fame through his spiritual journey and significant social media following, was banned from entering the Juna Akhara camp and its vicinity. The reason behind the expulsion was reportedly his use of abusive language directed at his Guru, Mahant Someshwar Puri. A member of the Juna Akhara clarified that Singh was not officially associated with the akhara, stating that he was neither a disciple nor connected to their activities.

‘IITian Baba’ Denies Allegations

Despite the allegations, Abhey Singh has vehemently denied being expelled from the akhara. In an interview with a news channel, Singh accused the seers of spreading rumors about him. He suggested that the rumors about his secret meditation were fabricated due to his rising fame. “They think I’ve become famous and might expose something about them, so they are claiming that I went for secret meditation. Those people are talking nonsense,” Singh said, dismissing the allegations.

Known for his large social media presence, Singh has over three lakh followers on Instagram and has been vocal about his spiritual journey. His Instagram account often features his teachings, interactions with devotees, and discussions on spirituality.

From Aerospace Engineering to Spirituality

The 36-year-old from Haryana revealed that he left behind a promising career in aerospace engineering to pursue spirituality. “Science helps explain the physical world, but its deeper study inevitably leads one toward spirituality. A true understanding of life ultimately brings one closer to spirituality,” Singh explained during his time at the Maha Kumbh.

Singh, who completed his aerospace engineering degree from IIT Bombay, believes that his background in science has contributed to his understanding of life’s deeper meaning. He has shared that the trauma he faced during his childhood, particularly related to domestic violence, played a significant role in shaping his path toward spirituality.

A Traumatic Childhood

In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, Singh opened up about the challenges he faced as a child. He revealed that domestic violence at home affected his mental health, despite not directly experiencing the abuse himself. “During my school days, I’d come home at 5 or 6 pm, and go straight to sleep to escape the chaos. I’d wake up at midnight when everything was quiet and no one was getting into fights, lock my door, and study in peace,” Singh recounted.

He described the helplessness he felt as a child witnessing his parents’ constant fights, and how it shaped his worldview. “As a child, you don’t understand what’s happening, and you don’t know how to react. You’re just helpless,” he shared.

When asked if this childhood trauma influenced his decision to remain unmarried, Singh admitted, “Exactly. I thought, why get married and face the same fights and conflicts that I saw in my childhood? It’s better to live alone and have a peaceful life.”

Abhey Singh’s journey from aerospace engineering to spirituality continues to intrigue his followers, as he navigates the complexities of fame, personal struggles, and his newfound spiritual calling.

Conclusion

The ‘IITian Baba’s’ story highlights the challenges faced by individuals transitioning from one world to another. Singh’s personal life, marked by childhood trauma and his decision to renounce marriage, is a reflection of his deeper quest for peace and self-understanding. As he continues his journey, his presence at the Maha Kumbh remains a source of both controversy and admiration, adding another layer to the mystique surrounding his character.
