Maharashtra: Two Killed, Six Injured as SUV Overturns on Samruddhi Expressway

A tragic accident on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway claimed two lives and left six others injured after an SUV overturned and was hit by another vehicle on Saturday morning, police said.

Accident Details

The incident occurred around 9 am when an SUV carrying devotees from Yavatmal was en route to Shirdi, an official from the Sindkhed Raja police station confirmed. The accident was triggered by a tyre burst, causing the vehicle to overturn, after which it was struck by a car from behind.

The deceased have been identified as Vidya Sable and Motiram Borkar. Among the six injured, three are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Rescue and Traffic Disruption

Following the accident, emergency response teams and traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured and clear the road. Traffic on the expressway was disrupted for some time before being restored.
