In a shocking revelation during an ongoing investigation into the murder of Baba Siddique, it has been reported that the shooters initially planned to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan before targeting the NCP leader. According to India Today, one of the accused in the case confessed that Salman Khan was originally on the hit list, but due to his high-level security, the shooters were unable to reach him.
Baba Siddique, a 66-year-old NCP leader, was tragically shot dead on October 12, 2024, outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East, Mumbai. Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival, having sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest. The accused assailants, identified as members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, are believed to have had a longstanding grudge against Salman Khan, which was likely a motivating factor in the planned attack.
The Bishnoi gang’s hostility towards Khan stems from allegations that the actor hunted a blackbuck, an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community, leading to threats against him over the years. In April 2024, two gunmen, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, opened fire near Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, though Khan was unharmed. The shooters were arrested in Gujarat, and both were linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
This wasn’t the first time Salman Khan faced serious threats. In November 2024, a man claiming to be the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi issued a death threat, demanding an apology from the actor or a payout of ₹5 crore. Khan also received a ransom demand from a vegetable seller in Jamshedpur, who sought ₹5 crore in exchange for the actor’s safety. Furthermore, a 20-year-old man from Noida was arrested in connection with a threatening call made to Khan.
In response to these threats, the Maharashtra police have provided Salman Khan with Y+ security, and his residence has been fortified with advanced security measures, including high-resolution AI-powered CCTV cameras with facial recognition technology. These measures are part of a concerted effort to safeguard the actor, who remains under constant threat from various sources.
As the investigation into Baba Siddique’s murder continues, authorities are closely examining the involvement of organized crime syndicates and their ties to the high-profile threats targeting Salman Khan.
