Ranveer Allahbadia Faces More Trouble as Assam Police Summons ‘India’s Got Latent’ Panellists

The controversy surrounding podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent has intensified, with the Assam Police issuing fresh summons to him and other panellists.

Assam Police Summons Five YouTubers

According to ANI, the Assam Police has summoned Ranveer Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who was also part of the controversial episode. Additionally, content creators Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jaspreet Singh have also been called for questioning.

A team from Assam Police arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday to investigate the matter further. The officers met senior officials at Khar police station, according to a PTI report.

FIR Filed for “Obscenity”

The controversy took a legal turn after the Guwahati Police registered an FIR on February 10 against five YouTubers and content creators for allegedly “promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussions.” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the case.

Meanwhile, similar cases have also been registered in Mumbai. Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has already appeared before the Khar police station to record her statement. So far, seven people, including Ranveer Allahbadia’s manager, have given their statements to the Mumbai Police, PTI reported.

Ranveer Allahbadia, the central figure in the controversy, has not yet appeared before the police. However, authorities stated that he and the other creators are expected to record their statements soon.

What Is the Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy?

The issue erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate remark on India’s Got Latent, sparking backlash on social media. The clip quickly went viral, drawing criticism from netizens, politicians, and fellow artists.

Following the uproar, Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comment was a “lapse in judgment.”

In response to the growing controversy, Samay Raina deleted all episodes of the show from his YouTube channel. Addressing the situation, he expressed that the backlash had been overwhelming but assured full cooperation with authorities.
