Kangana Ranaut Leads With Significant Margin in Political Debut, Credits PM Modi's Name

In a significant turn of events, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, making her political debut as the BJP candidate from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has surged ahead with a substantial lead according to initial trends from the Election Commission. With a lead exceeding 70,000 votes, Ranaut appears poised for a major victory in the electoral arena.

Taking a swipe at her rival Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, Ranaut remarked that he might need to “pack his bags and leave.” This comment comes amidst allegations that Ranaut would abandon Mandi after the elections, a notion she vehemently refutes.

“They will have to suffer the consequences of speaking ill about a woman… And today’s lead indicates that. Mandi has not taken kindly to derogatory remarks towards its daughters,” Ranaut expressed to ANI, emphasizing the support she has garnered from the electorate.

The BJP, buoyed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charisma and impactful election rallies, aimed to retain all parliamentary seats and secure six Assembly seats. In contrast, the Congress relied on its significant voter base, particularly 2.5-lakh government employees, who had been advocating for the restoration of the old pension scheme, a demand that the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had fulfilled.

The unfolding results reflect not only the dynamics of local politics but also the influence of national leaders and the resonance of key issues among the electorate. Ranaut’s lead underscores the impact of her political foray and the electoral strategies employed by the BJP in Himachal Pradesh.
