India Issues Urgent Advisory for Citizens to Leave Lebanon Amid Rising Conflict

In light of escalating tensions and ongoing military strikes in Lebanon, India has reiterated its urgent advisory for citizens to exit the country. The advisory, issued by the Indian embassy in Beirut, comes as Israel continues its attacks, resulting in the deaths of over 620 individuals and injuring thousands more.

The embassy emphasized that all Indian nationals currently in Lebanon should depart immediately, stating, “In view of the recent developments and escalations in the region, we strongly advise against traveling to Lebanon.” The advisory also urged those who choose to remain to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements, and maintain contact with the embassy through provided communication channels.

The Israeli military has confirmed its intention to persist with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah’s infrastructure, as military chief Herzi Halevi warned troops to prepare for a potential ground offensive. This military escalation has prompted significant concerns for the safety of foreign nationals in Lebanon.

Currently, an estimated 4,000 Indian nationals reside in Lebanon, primarily working in construction and agricultural sectors. Additionally, Indian Army personnel have been part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) since November 1998.

This advisory marks a continuation of earlier warnings, with the Indian embassy having first urged citizens to leave Lebanon on August 1, citing potential threats in the region following the killing of key leaders from Hamas and Hezbollah.
