In an extraordinary twist of fate, a Georgian woman has discovered that her birth father was someone she had been Facebook friends with for years, completely unaware of their connection. The remarkable revelation unfolded as part of her quest to find her biological parents, a journey she started in 2016 following the death of the woman who raised her.
The Search Begins
The search for her biological roots began when Tamuna Museridze, now an adult, found her birth certificate while clearing out her late mother’s home. A closer inspection revealed an inconsistency with her birth date, which prompted Museridze to suspect that she had been adopted. Eager to uncover the truth, she launched a Facebook group called “Vedzeb” (meaning “I’m Searching”) in 2016, hoping to connect with anyone who might have information about her biological parents.
A Breakthrough in 2024
In 2024, Museridze’s search gained traction when she received a message from a woman in rural Georgia. The woman claimed that her aunt had secretly given birth in Tbilisi in September 1984, which aligned with Museridze’s birth date. After several exchanges, the woman agreed to take a DNA test, hoping it would confirm the connection.
During the wait for the DNA results, Museridze reached out to her mother in search of more answers, but the conversation took an unexpected and emotional turn.
A Shocking Reaction from Her Mother
During a phone call with her mother, Museridze recalls, “She started screaming, shouting—she said she hadn’t given birth to a child. She didn’t want anything to do with me.” The intense and surprising reaction left Museridze shaken. “I was ready for anything, but her response was beyond anything I could imagine,” Museridze said.
DNA Test Confirms the Connection
A week after the conversation with her mother, Museridze received the DNA test results, which confirmed that she was indeed cousins with the woman from the rural area. Armed with this proof, she confronted her mother once again and convinced her to reveal the name of her birth father, Gurgen Khorava.
A Long-Lost Father and Daughter Reunite
With her birth father’s name in hand, Museridze took to Facebook and was stunned to find that Khorava had been following her search online for years. He was even one of her Facebook friends. “He had been in my friend list for three years,” Museridze said. “He didn’t even know my birth mother had been pregnant. It was a huge surprise for him.”
After making contact, Museridze and Khorava met in his hometown, where Museridze was introduced to her half-siblings and cousins. She was struck by the striking resemblance she shared with Khorava, more so than with any of his other children.
A Hidden Past Revealed
During their meeting, Museridze also uncovered the painful truth behind her adoption. Her mother had hidden the pregnancy out of shame, fearing societal judgment for having a child out of wedlock. She had secretly traveled to another city to give birth and kept the entire situation a secret from Khorava.
Museridze’s journey has brought her closer to her biological family, while also unveiling deep-seated family secrets. This emotional reunion with her birth father is a testament to the power of determination and the unexpected ways that modern technology, like Facebook, can reconnect long-lost families.
