A celebratory mood turned chaotic in Nashik on Sunday night after a flat caught fire due to firecrackers burst on the road to mark Team India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM in the College Road area, officials confirmed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Fire Breaks Out Amid Festivities
According to fire brigade officials, some people ignited fireworks near the building, which led to the fire spreading to a nearby flat. Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene and managed to douse the flames within 30 minutes.
However, their efforts were hampered by the massive crowd of nearly 4,000 people who had gathered to celebrate India’s win.
Celebrations Disrupt Firefighting Efforts
In a bizarre turn of events, as firefighters worked to control the blaze, some youths climbed onto the fire truck and began dancing. This reckless behavior further delayed the operation.
Eventually, the police intervened to disperse the crowd, allowing the fire brigade to carry out their work effectively.
Authorities Urge Caution
Following the incident, officials have urged the public to exercise caution while celebrating with fireworks, especially in residential areas. No arrests or injuries were reported, but authorities stressed the importance of responsible celebrations to prevent such mishaps in the future.
