Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, made headlines on Sunday during a public gathering at the ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ event. He expressed serious health concerns regarding his time in Tihar Jail, claiming that his insulin supply was halted, which could have led to catastrophic consequences for his health. Kejriwal, who spent over five months in jail related to the liquor policy case, was released on bail on September 13, following a Supreme Court order.
During his address, Kejriwal challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement free electricity in all National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ruled states, stating, “If he does something now, at least in the last year, people might say he achieved something.” He went further to promise his support for the BJP’s campaign if this demand is met. “I ask him to make electricity free in 22 states, and I’ll campaign for him,” he declared.
Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s governance model, labeling it as “double loot and double corruption,” and voiced concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. He drew comparisons to the underworld rule in Mumbai during the 1990s, asserting, “Bullets are being fired daily, crime is on the rise, and BJP is busy stopping the Delhi government’s work.”
In response to Kejriwal’s comments, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj countered that the people of Delhi have already expressed their preferences by electing BJP candidates in all seven Lok Sabha seats during the last election. She accused the AAP government of engaging solely in propaganda and corruption over the past decade.
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach in February, Kejriwal’s remarks are likely to intensify the political rivalry between AAP and the BJP, with both parties gearing up for a fierce campaign.
