Apoorva Mukhija Shares Horrific Threats After Controversy Over 'India's Got Latent' Show

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija has exposed disturbing online abuse, including rape and acid attack threats, following her involvement in a controversy linked to the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’.

In a powerful comeback post on Instagram, Mukhija shared screenshots of the vile threats she received, writing in the caption, “and that’s not even 1%.” The screenshots show shocking comments on her pictures and reels, where users threatened her with rape, death, and acid attacks.

This wave of online hate comes in the aftermath of a controversy involving several influencers and YouTubers, including Mukhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina, over a controversial episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’. The show, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, came under fire for obscene and sexually explicit discussions that allegedly promoted vulgarity.

In February, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell recorded Mukhija’s statement regarding the matter. The Guwahati Police also filed an FIR against various participants of the show, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Apoorva Mukhija, for promoting obscenity. The case was registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the IT Act 2000, the Cinematograph Act 1952, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

In response to the backlash, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” he admitted, adding that he intends to be more mindful of his influence on younger audiences moving forward.

Comedian Samay Raina, who hosted the controversial show, also appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch on April 6 in connection with the investigation.

Despite the apologies and legal proceedings, Apoorva Mukhija continues to face alarming levels of online harassment, with her latest post shedding light on the toxic culture of hate and abuse that often follows digital controversies.
